#14 · Machine-readable CLI results
check, sim, bit and flash now accept --json. One result object carries a stable schema tag, process and child exit codes, bounded diagnostics and logs, source locations and artifact provenance. Text commands keep their original output. The timeout option bounds the child process group; parent SIGINT and SIGTERM also stop that group. A deliberately daemonized process outside the group is not covered.
Independent review rejected false success after reader failures or open orphan pipes, warning floods that hid errors, stale artifacts attributed to the wrong top, and relative artifact scans from a nested Vivado directory. Root follow-ups fixed similarly named old bitstreams and multi-driver diagnostics containing several source locations. Unknown top/artifact provenance remains unknown instead of guessed.
The integrated tree passed 30 tests, 0 failures, 0 skips, including real sim and bit commands, text-mode parity and interruption cleanup. Separate real XPR and XPR-less projects passed 10 checks for nested roots, caching, unrelated artifacts and source paths containing spaces. The preceding #12–#13 full CLI run passed 269/0 with 52 known gaps; it is not a full run of this newer commit. Remote CI for this update passed. No real board programming is claimed.
