The diagnostic contains vscode-linter-shim-retained. File paths, line numbers and the detailed reason depend on the project or editor configuration; read the complete line printed by the command.
Why does it happen?
Deleting the extension while verilog.linting.path points inside it would break linting. The task remover does not overwrite user settings to force removal.
What is the fix?
In VS Code run “dewfpga: stop using the dewfpga iverilog lint shim”. That command restores only the value the extension owns. Then retry removal. If the setting was entered manually, review it manually rather than deleting unrelated settings.
